PROJECTO SIQUEIROS LA TALLERA RESIDENCY – SUMMER 2018
I have recently been selected by a jury composed of Peruvian critic, curator, and Director of Teorética, Miguel Lopez, Mexican artist Carlos Amorales, who represented Mexico in the last Venice Biennial, and, Taiyana Pimentel, the Director of Proyecto Siqueiros to make a project for the International Residency Program at La Tallera in Cuernavaca for 2018. La Tallera is one half of Proyecto Siqueiros, which includes two public museums, housed in buildings that hosted the muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros’ two last studios and workshops in Mexico City and in Cuernavaca.
A residency at La Tallera supports my research investigating the implications of silver mining and production in Taxco, Mexico – and aims to result in a series of photographs, video, and objects relating to ongoing work with materials in social and economic exchange.
