Teaching

Peter Simensky is an interdisciplinary artist who has extensive teaching experience in programs across the country, including California College of the Arts, Stanford University, and New York University. He has served as Faculty in MFA Programs at the Maine College of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. From 2014 to 2018 he chaired the MFA in Visual Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. In 2018 Simensky returned to California College of the Arts as an Associate Professor and Chair of SICA (Sculpture, Individaulized, and Community Arts).

Simensky is an active artist whose work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; Museum 52, New York; the Swiss Institute, New York; Museum 500m, Sapporo and Project Row Houses, Houston. He has participated in numerous group shows in the U.S. and internationally at museums, institutions, and galleries. He also served as the Photo Editor at Artforum from 2001-2003.

He holds a MFA 2003 from Hunter College and a BA 1999 from the University of California, Berkeley (Art History and Art Practice).
