Pyrite Pirate Radio – Video commission, de Young Museum, 2021
Pyrite Radio, taps the use value of pyrite, focusing its reflectivity as a mirror to capture audio from AM transmissions (including local stations in the Bay Area and programmed content from AM pirate radio transmissions). Sculptural radios tune into a variety of surfaces, from Rodin’s Thinker to sites of urban infrastructure — playing alongside footage from live performance, public actions and geological site recordings.
